Some interesting bit of side notes involving Ms. Susan Oki and her father....a former member of the famed 442 U.S. Military Regiment: My father, a former World War 11 Combat photographer in the South Pacific theatre, was married to a local Japanese during the War. He was a distant Political acquaintance and supporter for Jack Burns in Kailua, Oahu. They both belonged to the Kailua Lions Club and were both members of the private Lanikai Mid-Pacific Country Club....mostly all haole members after the War years.

My father was involved in a very fraudulent Hawaii land purchase and sale during the 1950s involving a corrupt Hawaii land surveyor and a fellow Irishman linked to the Hawaii Judges family members. After he relocated to San Francisco in the early 1960s, he retained a Hawaii attorney whom I believe was none other than Echi Oki.....from Honolulu, linked to the famed 442 Hawaii Military Brigade members whom he always supported due to the persecution of the local Hawaii Japanese community after Pearl Harbor.

Echi Oki, again, had close political links vis-a-vis their Military Service to Dan Inouye and their tight knit Hawaii 442 hui cabals.....prior and after the 1954 Hawaii Legislature Revolution. My father lost the Court case, despite the SELLER testifying in favor of my fathers allegations...... with huge conflicts of interests since the Judge was related to the Hawaii Judge {Taveras}.

Another side Note with the Airline Industry: I was personally involved with the earlier Bankruptcy proceedings with Frontier Airlines in Denver {1986} which later involved Drexel Burnham Wall Street investors linked to Frank Lorenzo and Carl Ichan in New York. Like Mr. Rodney Stich, the FAA investigator making allegations against United Airlines in Denver, I was singled out with several others for exposing blatant FAA rules and blatant Public Safety violations involving massive fraud and corruption benefiting short-cutting - Airline cost saving procedures...comprising massive Public Safety cover-ups and FAA regulatory with damage control omitted issues involving the new non-unionized, young and ignorant work force.

This all began with the across the board firings for the FAA Air Traffic Controllers soon after the Reagan - Bush Sr Tenure came into Office in 1981. The massive Airline De-regulations in Washington vis-a-vis Wall Stree profiteers, {i.e. - Michael Milken, Marc Rich, Ivan Boesky} during the roaring unregulated 1980s which became famous with the Movies: WALL STREET {Michael Douglas} and "BARBARIANS AT THE GATE".

AIPAC'S Norman Brownstein, based in Downtown Denver, vis-a-vis my former Brownstein political mole "girlfriend" , New York attorney Lisa Holstein, was responsible for helping Lorenzo with the Texas Continental Airline gang members to get out of their Prime gate and exclusive lounge commitments, including a faulty Automated Baggage system, involving more massive fraud and cover-ups at the new Denver International Airport were allowed to quietly relocate back to their Houston based "Texas Air Corp" headquarters.

In 1993, Clinton denied Frank Lorenzo, with his New York Attorney wife with Chase Manhattan Bank, as well as their Texas Air Corps - Colorado Resort land investors in Aspen & Vail {Phillip Winn Group}, to continue manipulating the SEC within the confines of the "insiders" under the lucrative "De-Regulated Airline Industry" mergers using Union Pension plans for lucrative leveraged acquisitions....compromising Public Safety and FAA violations with massive cover-ups in Washington.

Congressman has options to cover legal costs

If he wants, Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham can draw from the $635,000 in campaign funds he controls to pay legal bills arising from an investigation into his dealings with a Washington defense contractor.

Federal statute allows the embattled Republican lawmaker to spend that money on legal expenses, something a spokesman for the Federal Elections Commission said Monday happens from time to time.

Cunningham, who has not indicated how he will pay his legal bills, also has the option of setting up a legal defense fund. That option, in use by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who is battling ethics charges, would need approval from the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.

On Friday, the attorney hired by Cunningham refused to comment on whether a legal defense fund would be established. Cunningham represents the 50th Congressional District, which includes much of North County.

As of Monday, the Office of the Clerk of the House said no paperwork required to begin the process of establishing a legal defense fund had been filed.

Cunningham is reportedly the target of a probe by the San Diego U.S. attorney's office as a result of real estate and living arrangement deals with contractor Mitchell J. Wade, a friend of Cunnigham's whose company has seen its government contracts increase dramatically in recent years.

The relationship between Cunningham and Wade, who allegedly overpaid Cunningham for his Del Mar home and allowed the congressman to live on his yacht, has raised questions about whether Cunningham steered contracts to Wade.

While the U.S. attorney's office has refused to confirm reports that it is conducting an investigation, Cunningham issued a written statement Thursday defending his dealings with Wade and acknowledging "there is now a legal inquiry under way."

The size of the legal bill that could result from Cunningham's troubles is unclear. The congressman has hired attorney K. Lee Blalack of the Washington firm O'Melveny & Myers, who in an interview on Friday intimated that a team of unspecified size was working on behalf of Cunningham. He declined to disclose his firm's billing rate.

Under the law, members of Congress can tap into their campaign accounts and any funds in a political action committee they control to pay defense costs arising out of actions brought in connection with their official duties, said Bob Bieresack, a Federal Elections Commission spokesman in Washington.

There is no ceiling on how much can be spent from those accounts on legal fees.

"It has to be reported as a disbursement, but there are no limits," Bieresack said, adding that such spending from campaign accounts is "not common but it happens periodically."

Through March 31, the Friends of Duke Cunningham committee had $601,903 on hand with no debts owed, according to its latest report on file with the Federal Elections Commission.

A political action committee that Cunningham formed in 2000, American Prosperity, had $33,630 in its coffers as of May 31, according to its latest report.

It has become increasingly common for members of Congress to create their own political action committees to make contributions to other members' campaigns and to those running for the first time, according to Larry Noble, executive director of the nonpartisan, nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, which tracks campaign spending.

Among the contributors to American Prosperity in 2004 was a political action committee controlled by Wade's company, MZM Inc., which gave it $2,500 in June and another $2,500 in September.

In its latest filing, Friends of Duke Cunningham reported raising $23,500 coming from individual contributors through March 31 and $62,500 from political action committees between Jan. 1 and May 31.

Only six of the 38 individual contributors had San Diego County addresses. The rest had Washington or surrounding area addresses and appeared associated with firms that do business with the federal government, according to the elections commission filing....

Among the 25 contributions from political action committees, the most came from the BAE Systems North America Inc., which gave $4,000 on April 22 and another $5,000 on April 28, according the elections commission filing.

BAE Systems is a worldwide high-tech information and security firm with its North American headquarters in McClean, Va....

Contributions to a legal defense fund that Cunningham could establish are limited to $5,000 a year per individual, union or corporation.

Wade has refused repeated interview requests.

A federal investigation into the Cunningham-Wade relationship would most likely focus on Wade's 2003 purchase of Cunningham's Del Mar Heights home for $1.65 million, and its resale of 11 months later for $700,000 less than what he paid Cunningham.

The congressman now serving in his eighth term of office also has acknowledged living aboard Wade's boat named the "Duke-Stir" at a Potomac River marina. Cunningham said in his statement last week that he had paid more than $13,000 in dock and maintenance fees in lieu of traditional rent.

WASHINGTON - The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday subpoenaed former White House top political adviser Karl Rove to testify about whether the White House improperly meddled with the Justice Department.

Accusations of politics influencing decisions at the department led to last year's resignation of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

The subpoena issued Thursday orders Rove to testify before the House panel on July 10. He is expected to face questions about the White House's role in firing nine U.S. attorneys in 2006 and the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama, a Democrat.

House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers had negotiated with Rove's attorneys for more than a year over whether the former top aide to President Bush would testify voluntarily.

"It is unfortunate that Mr. Rove has failed to cooperate with our requests," Conyers, D-Mich., said in a statement. "Although he does not seem the least bit hesitant to discuss these very issues weekly on cable television and in the print news media, Mr. Rove and his attorney have apparently concluded that a public hearing room would not be appropriate."

"Unfortunately, I have no choice today but to compel his testimony on these very important matters," Conyers said.

Neither Rove nor his attorney, Robert Luskin, could be immediately reached for comment.

Sources close to the widening probe of official corruption in Washington tell ABC News that investigators are studying travel records of expensive trips to Hawaii and Europe taken by top CIA official Dusty Foggo and San Diego defense contractor Brent Wilkes.

Prosecutors want to know who paid for the lavish trips to European castles and top end Hawaiian resorts, including this $7,000 a night Honolulu beachfront mansion, owned at one time by hair stylist super-star Paul Mitchell.

Wilkes, a close personal friend of Foggo is suspected of paying bribes to Congressman Duke Cunningham, who recently pled guilty in the corruption investigation.
