Island Insurance Appoints Valerie Katz as Vice President, Claims
HONOLULU - Island Insurance Company, Ltd., the state's largest locally owned and managed property and casualty insurance carrier, has appointed Valerie Katz as Vice President, Claims.
Katz will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Claims Division as well as managing the enhancement and development of Claims handling processes and procedures.
"Valerie brings an exceptional track record in the property and casualty insurance industry," said John Schapperle, President and Chief Operating Officer of Island Insurance. "Her considerable experience and knowledge of industry-leading Claims practices will facilitate the advancement and efficiency of our Claims operations."
Katz has over 30 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance
industry. Prior to joining Island Insurance, Katz was Vice President of Claims
Audit for ACE USA Insurance Group where she was responsible for technical
and operational quality assurance for the U.S. and Canada. Katz has also held
various positions with American International Adjustment Company, UAC
(Continental Insurance Company), NRG America Management Corporation and
Royal Insurance Company.
Katz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from State University New York,
Stony Brook and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Drexel University in
Philadelphia.
Katz's professional designations include: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter,
Associate in Risk Management, Certified Business Continuity Planner, Associate in
Insurance Services and Associate in Insurance Management. She has also served as
an Adjunct Professor at the College of Business Administration at Drexel University
(Pennsylvania), Rosemont College (Pennsylvania) and Facilitator for the Insurance
Society of Philadelphia for the CPCU, ARM and AIC programs.
