Nature Conservancy elects
new board chairman
By Associated Press
HONOLULU (AP) _ The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii today announced the election of a new chairman of its board of trustees.
The conservancy says David Cole, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Maui Land and Pineapple Company, Inc., has been selected to head the board.
Cole succeeds Honolulu attorney Jeff Watanabe, who was chairman of the conservancy's Hawaii board from 1996 to 2004.
Cole, who grew up in Kailua, had served on the Hawaii board from 1988 to 2000 and rejoined last May.
He is board chairman of Sunnyside Farms LLC, a 500-acre organic farm in Virginia, and the Twin Farms resort in Vermont.
He is a past director of the World Wildlife Fund and the American Farmland Trust.
